Jobs Stage Manager Stage Manager- Zach Wow!
Stage manager is fun!! When I first tried out for stage manager, I made a
callboard. A call board is a poster with the names, dates and rehearsal
schedule for the company. When Mrs. Fisher interviewed me, she asked me
questions about how I made the callboard and how I would solve problems in
the company. For instance, what if someone wasnt on time or if they
were fooling around-what would I do?? I said I would tell the person to be
on time or I would have to report them to our teacher. If they are fooling
around backstage, I would tell them that they are not being responsible to
the company and the responsibilities they said they would perform. I think
she liked my answers because I am the stage manager now!! In my
application it says that I am in charge and responsible but I need to be
caring and respectful. So
far in my job I have worked with the performers on hand motions, pauses
and volume of their voices when they practice their dialogues. We have
also done trust exercises because the performers need to trust each other
so they can work well together. We also have memorized monologues,
situation scripts and short plays. Also tongue twisters and vocal
exercises. The
recent thing we have done is to go to other classrooms and perform the
short version of the WIZARD OF OZ. I asked the performers to bring in a
prop of something that would help them become their character. Then we
discovered if we turned our backs to the audience we were less nervous and
got more confidence and dont fool around as much. I
like being in charge of the performers. I try to be nice but I make sure
they do their jobs. Its hard to work with so many performers and keep
them on task. [ Home ][ About ][ Jobs ][ Field Trips ][ Adults ][ Process ] This web site was built with help from our friends at Global eXchange Services
